If you have been with us for a while (we’ve just celebrated 15 years of our ministry this past week), you may be wondering to yourself, “What happened to Kate?”
There’s really not an easy way to answer the question “Where’s Kate?” because the truth of the matter is… she’s still right here… actively working on the ministry; it’s just that you don’t see her.
The COVID Pandemic pretty much introduced our world (and our mission) to a new way of getting things done: Live streaming. Before that, live streaming was mostly something the gamers were really into with their projects. For the rest of us, we were doing things pre-pandemic style… getting together… lights… camera… action. When the government issued a stay-at-home quarantine for all non-essential employees in 2020, everyone resorted to live streaming (Zoom, etc.) to create content and get work done. So did we.
Fast forward to 2021, with half of the states still ordering quarantines while the other states easing restrictions, I had packed up myself and the mission and moved down to Florida. Kate remained in New Jersey. But with our mission now switched to livestreaming, distance we did not believe would interfere with our video productions because we were already accustomed to doing everything online. The one problem we did not think of in regards to my move is the amount of time it would take with getting the mission set up in Florida to make it a legal entity with the state and federal government. Also, with home hunting… moving from NJ to FL… and then moving again from apartment to home… time was just not on our side to be able to continue with our livestreaming schedule.
But that doesn’t mean either one of us had stopped working on mission matters. I am in charge of all of the production and business matters; Kate is in charge of respodning to the avalanche of comments we receive daily on both of our channels on YouTube channels (The Catholic Crusade and Catholic Crusade Ministries). She is also very much involved in our planning and monthly meetings.
And fortunately, now that the smoke has cleared in regards to being set up with the state and federal governments and my moves are finally history, we are both very ready to get back to creating Catholic content together. You will be seeing a lot more of Kate on the screen. We are looking forward to making our upcoming announcement about what’s coming next for the Crusade. We expect to make the announcement towards the end of July.
